Here's what is happening in the markets today, Wednesday, September 29th:


- Yesterday stocks were hammered again with the S&P seeing its biggest 1-day slide since May.
- Today futures are pointing to a slightly higher start.
- Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell admits that β€œit’s fair to say that inflation is broader, more structural and more concerning than earlier this year.” 
- Is Fed Chair Powell a "dangerous man"? Senator Elizabeth Warren took shots at Powell in yesterday's saying she will oppose his renomination.
- Still no agreement in Washington that would prevent a government shutdown and suspend the debt ceiling to avoid a potential default on US debt. 
- Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warns that the government would not be able to make all of their payments if the debt ceiling is not raised by October 18th.  
- Eli Lilly (LLY) is up 2.0% premarket after a Citi upgrade.
- Lucid Group (LCID) plans to deliver its first luxury electric vehicle in late October.  
- Dollar Tree (DLTR) is up almost 4.0% pre-market after increasing it's share repurchase authorization from $1.05 billion to $2.5 billion total.
- Affirm Holdings (AFRM) is up pre-market saying it will let its customers execute cryptocurrency transactions directly from savings accounts.
